Program Description
A tour of the town of Soweto, a place with a remarkable sense of community and rich history. The tour begins with a pickup from the hotels. The first item on the agenda is a visit to the Hector Pieterson Museum, named after the student who died during the tragic riots associated with anti-apartheid protests. Drive past Mandela's home to the Regina Mundi Church, which was the site of many secret meetings of banned political parties during the apartheid era. At the end of the tour, visit near the largest stadium in Africa, Soccer City, where the 2010 FIFA World Cup final was played. Return to hotels.
